Saying “the bad guys are smart” is an understatement. I recently attended a presentation by Kevin Mitnick, a computer hacker turned security expert. I was amazed by the current hacking techniques that Kevin demonstrated and discussed, such as the threat of using peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing networks to bypass firewall protections and the threat of hackers using digital information scanners to duplicate employee security badges. I wrote about the presentation and my findings in a blog post, Your Data is Not as Safe as You Think it is. Security is an ever evolving topic that everyone, especially in the financial industry, should learn and think more about. - Eric Lindeen
